(personally worn by Alex):

eBay Auction for Jason Becker

I will say that although I usually avoid wearing tour merchandise to avoid drawing attention to myself in public, that tour jacket is one I did occasionally wear.

Jason Becker has long been an incredible inspiration for all, musicians and non-musicians alike. The documentary about him, Not Dead Yet, is a must see that fully captures his sense of class, deep thinking and even humor in the face of challenges unimaginable to the rest of us. It is an honor to contribute to the Jason Becker auction. – Alex Skolnick (Alex Skolnick Trio/Testament)

East Bay Center for the Performing Arts presents the
documentary film “Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet”

RICHMOND, CA (July 5, 2012) — On Sunday, July 22, East Bay Center for the Performing Arts will present the moving award-winning documentary film, by Jesse Vile “Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet,” which chronicles the dramatic life experiences of guitarist Jason Becker. This event, which coincides with Jason’s 43rd birthday, will honor an acclaimed musician who grew up and still lives in Richmond, California while also benefiting the work of East Bay Center, which offers instruction in music, dance, and theater to the youth of Richmond’s Iron Triangle Neighborhood.

Tickets can be purchased for $12.00 + $1.41 service fee at:
http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/258339
Screenings at 4pm and 7pm on Sunday, July 22, 2012 – LIMITED SEATING

When doctors diagnosed 19-year-old rock star Jason Becker with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), they said he would never make music again and that he wouldn’t live to see his 25th birthday. Twenty-four years later, without the ability to move or to speak, Jason is alive and making music with his eyes.

“Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet” is the story of a guitar legend who refuses to give up on his dream of being a musician despite the most incredible odds. It is a story of dreams, love, and the strength of the human spirit. The film has been made with the full co-operation of Jason and the Becker family, who have given their consent for this to be the first feature-length documentary film about his life. They have provided their entire family archive of never-before-seen photos and footage.

Audiences for this screening will also get an opportunity to participate in a rare post-show Q&A with Jason Becker, who communicates via an interpreter. Paintings by Jason’s father Gary Becker, who works in large canvas acrylics, will be on display, and merchandise featuring Jason Becker’s compositions will be available for purchase. Convenient secure parking is ½ block from the theater, which is located at 339 11th Street (at MacDonald), Richmond. General seating. This facility is wheelchair accessible.

A few words from Jeff Loomis on Jason Becker, 3/02/12

As time gets closer to my tour starting at the end of this month, I’ve been thinking a lot about Jason Becker and his new movie/documentary “Not Dead Yet.”

I won’t be able to attend, but would like to wish Jason and his family all the best for the premiere tomorrow evening.

Jason, thank you for your inspiration over all these years, and most of all, thank you for being you!

You’re the best and always will be.
